Stanley Chasia

Policy Advisor, NBS Biophysical Monitoring

Stanley Chasia is a policy advisor specializing in nature-based solutions monitoring with IISD’s Water program.

His role involves developing and implementing biophysical monitoring plans, and coordinate monitoring efforts in collaboration with the SUNCASA project's implementing partners.

With a diverse background spanning academia, private sector, and consultancy roles, Stanley has contributed his expertise to various organizations and projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. His work focuses on water, ecosystem disturbances from land use and climate change, environmental and social safeguards in projects, and natural resource assessment and monitoring. He brings technical proficiency in catchment hydrology, integrated water resource management, erosion and land-use change modeling, geospatial analysis, data visualization, and the application of Earth Observation data for scientific research and decision support systems.

Stanley holds a Ph.D. in Water Resources from the Technical University of Kenya and a Master of Science in Geographical Information Systems from the University of Nairobi.
